Day 1: Kuching - Iban Longhouse

We will pick you up in the morning from your hotel and depart for a four hour drive to the jetty. During our journey we will pass through a scenic route of rural villages, towns, gardens of peppers and fields of rubber and paddy. Then we will have a short stop at Serian Town for refreshments (own expenses). Later on we will have our lunch at Lachau, which is a humble upcountry Chinese village. After lunch we will proceed to the final stage of the overland journey and arrive at the river jetty. Here we will board a longboat that will take approximately a 40 minutes boat ride and travel up to the river to an Iban Longhouse.

Day 2: Iban Longhouse - Kuching

Start your day with a hearty breakfast. After breakfast, the Iban people will give you a presentation with their traditional weapon, the blowpipe which you could participate in. Then take a short walk around the vicinity of the longhouse, and learn about the traditional uses of rainforest plants in Iban culture. After the short walk, it’s time to say good-bye to the natives and return downriver by longboat to the jetty, return to Kuching city via the same route. Then, proceed to Serian for lunch and after lunch transfer to the hotel in the city or airport.
