Our adventure begins as we pick you up from the Sandakan Airport or your hotel in Sandakan, then we’ll head straight to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. There, you'll get to learn about the rehabilitation effort done at the centre through a short video screening. Make your way to the feeding platform to witness the feeding of orangutans and other monkeys around. You can also spend time observing the cheeky little younglings in an enclosed nursery area. After lunch, embark on a 2.5 hour journey by speedboat up the Kinabatangan River to Sukau Rainforest Lodge. Right after checking-in, go on board for a late afternoon cruise in search of Borneo's wildlife and birds. Return to the lodge to savor a scrumptious dinner at Melapi restaurant, followed by a slide presentation and interpretation by our Borneo specialist guide.
Rise and shine for the morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife. After breakfast, join in the nature walk along the lodge's Hornbill Boardwalk with the in-house naturalist. It will be free at leisure after lunch. In the afternoon, proceed for another river cruise to check off your wildlife sightings.
Take an early morning river cruise along the Menanggol River in search of wildlife. In the late afternoon, proceed 27 km overland journey to the vicinity of Gomantong Cave. Traverse to the Gomantong Caves on a 15 minute boardwalk trail through the rainforest, and we might able to sight the “Man of the jungle”! Witness the exodus of over two million bats as well as raptors. Return to Sukau Rainforest Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Rise early and prepare for your trip to Lahad Datu. Your journey begins with a warm welcome and breakfast in Lahad Datu, followed by a scenic drive up Mount Silam to Menara Kayangan. From this panoramic lookout, take in breathtaking views of Darvel Bay and its constellation of emerald islands.
Next, head to Tumunong Hallu Jetty for a boat ride to the spectacular Blue Rings Reef, Malaysia's only known double marine blue hole. Snorkel among dazzling coral gardens teeming with marine life in this rare underwater wonder.
Continue your coastal exploration to Pulau Baik, where a sunken Japanese cargo vessel from the 1980s has transformed into a thriving marine sanctuary, perfect for an unforgettable snorkeling experience.
After a relaxed seaside lunch, spend the afternoon unwinding on the beach. Swim, snorkel, or simply lounge with a refreshing tropical drink as you soak in the laid-back island rhythm.
In the late afternoon, journey inland to the pristine Dan um Valley Conservation Area. Upon arrival at Borneo Rainforest Lodge, settle into your luxurious rainforest retreat. As dusk falls, step into the heart of the jungle on a Guided Night Walk or Night Drive, offering your first encounter with the mysterious wildlife of the ancient rainforest.
Awaken to the sounds of the rainforest and set off on a morning trek to a scenic viewpoint and the ancient Dusun burial site known as Coffin Cliff. This trail offers both cultural insight and panoramic views of the valley. Cool off in the Natural Jacuzzi Pool before returning to the Lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, explore the 329-meter-long Canopy Walkway, suspended 27 meters above the forest floor, where you can experience the rainforest from a different perspective. Alternatively, for an added adventure, you may choose to enjoy river rafting or jungle cycling, available for an additional fee. If weather conditions limit outdoor activities, engaging in indoor cultural sessions is offered. Or take the time to relax and enjoy the Lodge's serene surroundings. As night returns, venture out once more on a Night Walk or Night Drive to discover the forest's hidden, nocturnal wildlife.
Begin your final morning with an optional early walk through the awakening forest. After breakfast, enjoy some leisure time before checking out from the Lodge. Your journey concludes with a return transfer to Lahad Datu, taking with you unforgettable memories of Borneo's coastal beauty and ancient rainforests. Take the late afternoon flight back to Kota Kinabalu.
