Menyang Tais Tour

Day 1Pick up from your Kuching hotel around 08.30 hours, and drive to Batang Ai reservoir – about 4½ hours. Journey through rural Sarawak, passing pepper gardens, cocoa and rubber plantations. En-route, a few stops will be made. Visit the colourful native market in Serian village where a variety of jungle produce such as edible ferns, bamboo shoots and unusual tropical fruit are on display. Visit a pepper garden and stop by to view wild orchids and several species of pitcher plants. A lunch stop will be made en route.

Upon arrival at the Batang Ai reservoir, proceed by longboat (40 minutes) across the reservoir to the longhouse jetty, where you will disembark and walk 15 minutesto the longhouse. Learn about the jungle before calling in at the longhouse. 
 Upon arrival at Menyang Tais longhouse meet your Iban hosts. In the evening, relax on the ruai (common verandah) and spend time with the Iban people. Learn about their culture and enjoy some “tuak” – the local rice wine.Overnight in the longhouse. [Lunch and Dinner included]

Day 2Following breakfast, walk to the river and continue up river by longboat (subject to water level). Alternatively depart the longhouse for a long jungle hike. Your destination is Tinting Empeliau, the lush forest where wild orang-utans are occasionally spotted. Explore the rainforest and have lunch en route. Return to the longhouse mid-afternoon, continue by longboat to the Batang Ai Longhouse Resort for dinner and overnight. [Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included]

Day 3

After breakfast, depart by ferry to the Batang Ai reservoir jetty, then overland to Kuching. Lunch is taken en route. Continue to Kuching and drop off at your hotel. [Breakfast and Lunch included]
