IRRAWADDY DOLPHIN CRUISE
Tour Code: KCH7
Duration – 3-4 hours
Drive about 45 minutes from Kuching in the direction of Damai Beach. Board a small boat and start your cruise to the mouth of the Salak River. You should be able to spot the elusive and rare schools of Irawaddy dolphins which are quite common in this area. As you continue your cruise along the Salak River, you will be able to experience the lush mangrove forest. Tide dependent, you should be able to see the mudskippers, and blue crabs on the sand banks, kingfishers and other birds and perhaps the odd small crocodile. Occasionally, macaque and the proboscis monkeys may be seen. Your cruise will take you through Kampong Salak, a small and traditional Malay fishing village built on stilts. End your cruise at Kampong Samariang Batu, from where it is a half hour drive back to your hotel in Kuching
Note 1: Since you will be exposed to the hot tropical sun, we highly recommend that you bring along a wide brimmed hat or cap, sunglasses and sun screen.
Note 2: This tour is not a tour which focuses on the dolphins. As they are wild animals there can be no guarantees that the dolphins will be seen.
