Transfer 20 minutes from the KK jetty to Gaya Island. Historically, Pulau Gaya was the site of the British North Borneo Company’s harbour, razed by the rebel Mat Salleh in 1881. These days, the 1465 ha island is mainly uninhabited, except on the eastern shore, which is home to a community of people living in stilt houses over the water, and three separate resorts, one of which comprises chalets which are built out over the water.

Explore one of the 2 km to 3 km jungle trails in the the the virgin tropical rainforest of the island with your guide, and learn about some of the unique medicinal plants, tropical hardwood trees, coastal vegetation, tropical dipterocarp rainforest and the ecology of the mangrove forest. Trek along rainforest trails which meet tropical ocean.

After a cooked buffet lunch on one of the tropical islands, go “down below” and snorkel the warm waters of the South China Sea.


SNORKELLING IN TARP

Explore one, or several of the enchanting snorkelling sites found within the marine park. Swim alongside colourful marine-life, butterfly fish, parrot fish, cardinals and snappers.

Relax, snorkel and free at leisure until your transfer across to the mainland marina at around 16.00 hrs, arriving back at your hotel around 16.30 hrs. [includes Lunch and snorkelling equipment]
