Day 1

Simpang Mengayau - the Northern Tip of Borneo

Simpang Mengayau - the Northern Tip of Borneo

Early morning pick up from your hotel at about 08.30 hrs, for a 2.5 hour road trip to the land inherited by the Rungus tribe in Kudat, the land of the last longhouses in Sabah. (If your tour falls on Sunday, you will visit Kota Belud’s open market, known as “tamu” in Sabah, where local traders congregate to sell their produce.) After lunch, set off on your journey to the “Tip of Borneo” at Tanjung Simpang Mengayau, the northernmost point of Borneo, and also visit a serene beach nearby for swimming. Witness the picturesque view of South China Sea meeting Sulu Sea.
Continue your trip with a visit to a community project virgin coconut oil lab (village scale) followed by a mangrove river cruise along the picturesque Loro river. The last stop of the day is Terongkongan village – welcomed with a unique cultural performance by the local Rungus community. Your lodging for the night is a rustic longhouse with basic facilities and common bathroom. Mattress and mosquito net are provided. [includes Lunch and Dinner]

Day 2

Wake up to the calls of roosters and enjoy the tranquility of the village. Begin your day with a local breakfast before setting off on a walk to the nearby rubber estate. Have a go at rubber tapping yourself. If weather permits, cycle through scenic villages and farms. Lunch at the longhouse and then visit Kampung Sumangkap to observe the making of traditional gongs. Note: Optional cycling is available for adults only

Return to Kota Kinabalu with lunch en route. [includes Breakfast and Lunch]

NOTE This tour may be varied by substituting accommodation at the Kudat Golf and Marina Resort. You may also like to consider an additional day (at leisure) in Kudat before heading back to KK.

Please bring along sun block, personal toiletries, insect repellent, hat, flashlight (torch), walking shoes, light raincoat, drinking water bottle, swimming attire and towel
