Day 1

Day 2

Day at leisure in KK. You might be interested in a day trip to Kinabalu Park and Poring Hot Springs, or perhaps a day trip to the islands – experience a mangrove and jungle walk in the morning, and some really nice snorkelling after lunch.Overnight at Magellan Sutera Resort [includes breakfast]

Day 3

Early morning meeting at the resort for transfer to KK airport for flight to Sandakan on the East coast of Sabah.Meet on arrival and transfer to Sepilok Orang-utan Centre. You will be able to stroll about ten minutes through the rainforest on timber boardwalks to witness the orang-utan feeding at 10.00hrs. After the feeding, participate in an audio-visual presentation on the orang-utan conservation and the rehabilitation process.

Lunch in Sandakan, then transfer to the jetty for a 2 1/2 hour boat trip along Sabah’s longest river – the Kinabatangan River – to the multi-award winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge. You will have the opportunity to view birds and wildlife in virgin mangrove, wetland and rainforest habitats.

After check-in at the lodge, and an afternoon refreshment, you will take a river cruise using boats equipped with electric motors, in search of some of the 10 primate species found in Borneo. Sukau is home to Borneo pygmy elephants, orang-utans, proboscis monkeys and all eight species of hornbill in Borneo.

Return to the lodge for a solar heated hot shower, and candle light dinner overlooking the riverbank, followed by a slide show and interpretation by a naturalist guide.

Overnight at the recently renovated Sukau Rainforest Lodge, named by National Geographic Adventure magazine in 2009 as one of the top 50 jungle lodges in the world.

Day 4

Wake up to the calls of gibbons and hornbills and hot Sabah tea. At 06.00 hrs, head out on o river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view birds and wildlife. After a late breakfast at the lodge, proceed on an educational tour along the “in-house” Hornbill Boardwalk, located behind the lodge, with the Sukau based naturalist.In the afternoon, enjoy another river cruise in search of more wildlife. Wild orang-utan are often seen on this trip. Return to Sukau Rainforest Lodge for the night.

Day 5
Gaya Island Resort

GAYA ISLAND RESORT

Breakfast at the lodge, then transfer along the river by boat to Sandakan. An early lunch on arrival, then transfer to the airport for your afternoon flight to Kota Kinabalu.On arrival, you will be met and transferred to the main Kota Kinabalu jetty in the city for your scheduled 20 minute boat transfer (every two hours from 08.00 hrs) to the recently completed Gaya Island Resort located on the Eastern end of Pulau Gaya. Check into your Bayu Villa.

Remainder of day at leisure.

The resort offers a sunset cruise to watch the sunset over the South China Sea which can be a beautiful way to finish off a day.

Day 6 and 7

Enjoy your time on the island at leisure. Avail yourself of the resort’s facilities. Try a massage and spa at the Spa Village Gaya Island, head off on a guided jungle walk (varying distances and difficulties), try scuba diving at the PADI Dive Centre, or snorkelling on the house reef, try your hand at any of the water sport activities, perhaps even explore the island by kayak, or spend some time around the pool or in the library. The resort also offers a secluded beach only a five minute boat trip away.[includes daily Breakfast]

At leisure until your scheduled boat transfer (every two hours from 09.00 hrs) back to KK and transfer to your hotel or the airport for your departure flight.[includes breakfast]
