Day 1

AIRPORT - LOA JANAN - MAHAKAM RIVER

You will be met on arrival at Balikpapan's Sepinggan airport, and transfer immediately to Loa Janan on the lower Mahakam River, where you will board a comfortable house boat for exciting tour on the Mahakam River which is like a multi- lane highway to the interior of Kalimantan, complete with many riverside towns and floating road houses.

Full board while on the boat.

Day 2

MUARA MUNTAI - MANCONG - TANJUNG ISUY

After breakfast on boat, you will make a stop at Muara Muntai, a town of the Kutai people, to enable you to observe the way of the inhabitants as they go about their life in this town with streets and footpaths made of hardwood planks. Continue the trip by motorized canoe over Jempang Lake, passing beautiful scenery along the river banks, passing the beautiful panorama of the Ohong River where you can observe proboscis monkeys in the trees by the river, before arriving at Mancong. On arrival a welcome ceremony will be performed for you by the local Benuaq Dayak people in front of their ceremonial longhouse. After the performance and an inspection of the village, return to the house boat and cruise up to Long Iram. Lunch box, dinner and overnight on the boat.

Day 3

TANJUNG ISUY - MINTA - MELAK

Breakfast on boat in the morning before a visit to the village to observe the people as they go about their daily lives. Return to the boat and cruise up the river to Melak. A stop will be made at Minta village en route to watch a demonstration of the making of palm sugar. Continue to Melak. Meals and overnight on the house boat.

Day 4

MELAK - TERING - DATAH BILANG - DOWN RIVER

Breakfast on the boat, then a trip by road to visit the natural black orchids and the old long house at Eheng village. From there, you will be taken to the nearby Ambo Asa Waterfall. Proceed by boat to Tering village to observe the daily routine of the Bahau tribe. The Bahau people still have the long ear lobes and tattoos on their bodies. The Hudoq dance (masked dance) will be performed by the Bahau people.

You will then transfer to speed boat or motorised canoe to cruise to the Datah Bilang village. Overnight at a local losmen (guesthouse). Meals and overnight at the losmen.

Day 5

DATAH BILANG - MELAK

After breakfast, visit the Kenyah tribe where you will see the beautiful ornaments in longhouse and also the rice terraces. With luck, you will also see some of the Kenyah people with their long ear lobes and tattoos.

Return to the boat, and head back down the river. Meals and overnight on the boat.

Day 6

TENGGARONG - LOA JANAN - BALIKPAPAN

Breakfast on your boat prior to visiting the royal cemetery, and the remains of the Sultans Palace which is now the State Museum of Mulawarman at the Kutai centre of Tenggarong, which was once the seat of the Kutai sultinate. Afterwards, you will return to the boat and head further down the river to Loa Janan. After lunch on the boat, transfer to Balikpapan where you will spend the night at either Bahana Surya Hotel or Benakutai Hotel (both 4 star).

Lunch on boat, dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 7

HOTEL - AIRPORT

Breakfast at hotel, morning at leisure, until transfer to the airport for your next destination.
